“I want to be part of #NuffnangIs007 at Fullhouse Signature Singapore!”

Why I love Nuffnang?? Plenty of reasons to love them....Let me give you 7 reasons since Nuffnang is turning 7!!

1) The first and foremost reason why I love Nuffnang:
The awesome staff at Nuffnang, special mention goes to Khoo Qin Xin.  I salute her for the work she does. I mean....just like today, she has to accompany us, bloggers, on a bright Saturday morning, to learn Tahiti dance. Oh ya, you should see how much fun I had swaying my hips to the music together with the rest.
You should have been there at Botanical Gardens, there's a bevy of ladies doing the Tahiti dance.

I made wonderful friends.
Here's the instructor, Linda and new-found  friend, Ais.

Here's a blogger with lots of potential, Azareen.

2) The second reason I love Nuffnang:
I literally "grew up" with them, from my first blogging event till now. They are unofficially my"parents" of blogging. Thank you for your "grooming", because of you, I get to know more friends and have attended many wonderful events that opened up a world that I might not ever experience.

My most memorable experience has to be the NuffnangXLoving event- Bartini Kitchen
whereby I got to concoct a cocktail and play bartender for a day.
(The smoking hot bartender who was teaching us that day was certainly a plus!)

My awesome team of all ladies won a prize for creating the best concoction of the evening. (Hmm, I might think I have a second career in being a bartender..)

3) The 3rd reason why I love Nuffnang:
You won't believe it...I actually love their office situated at Kinta Road. It's like a spot in Little India whereby a hive of activity takes place and the favourite thing I like about their office is their rooftop garden (Ha, bet you did not know that!)
THIS WAS TAKEN AT NUFFNANG OFFICE ROOFTOP GARDEN-YOU SHOULD CHECK IT OUT SOMEDAY!!
4) The 4th reason why I love Nuffnang:
Nuffnang has this awesome logo-the clipart man with 3 dashes( a term that I came up with) plastered everywhere! It is synonymous with Nuffnang. I love its cuteness and it has certainly grown with Nuffnang through the years.

5) The 5th reason why I love Nuffnang:
The fact that I get to mingle with like-minded bloggers of different interests. It brings a community of bloggers together! I feel so connected whenever I attend an event by Nuffnang. I get to network and liaise with people. We exchange contacts and get together, laugh and have fun!

6)The 6th reason why I love Nuffnang:
Because of Nuffnang, it makes me want to blog and share my life with whoever is reading my blog.
To all my readers and friends out there, thank you for allowing me to share with you. This blog exists because of you.

7) The 7th reason why I love Nuffnang:
I am basically a positive person and I know that Nuffnang Singapore would want me to be part of their 7th birthday bash at Fullhouse Signature Singapore to add a dash of glow and spread happiness to everyone on that special evening.

Intelligence Screening at The Screening Room

Ann Siang Hill has always been a place close to my heart.  My friends and I would enjoy prowling the streets for good food and drinks to chill and hang out.

When I was invited for the screening of Intelligence at The Screening Room, I literally jumped at the opportunity. There were drinks and food to whet our appetite before we were ushered into the screening room for more droolsome stuff....

The droolsome-worthy  Josh Holloway was in the lead role...as Gabriel, a high-tech intelligence operative enhanced with a super-computer microchip in his brain.

I think it is awesome to be able to have a microchip embedded in your brain. Imagine....havin the vast volume of information about anybody in your hands.

Okay, more about the show...so Gabriel is the 1st ever human to be connected directly into the worldwide information grid and have complete access to Internet, WiFi, telephone and satellite data.

What makes it amazing is that he is able to hack into any centre and access key intelligence information to protect the United States from its enemies.

"Intelligence" stars Josh Holloway ("Lost") as Gabriel, Marg Helgenberger ("CSI: Crime Scene Investigation") as Lillian Strand, Meghan Ory ("Once Upon a Time") as Riley Neal, Michael Rady ("The Mentalist") as Chris Jameson, James Martinez ("Gravity") as Gonzalo Rodriguez, John Billingsley ("True Blood") as Dr. Cassidy and P.J. Byrne ("Wolf of Wall Street") as Nelson Cassidy.

Michael Seitzman, René Echevarria, Tripp Vinson and David Semel (for pilot) are executive producers for ABC Television Studios in association with CBS Television Studios.

“Intelligence” will debut on Singapore television on Channel 318 RTL-CBS, mio TV on Tuesday, 11 February 2014, at 9.55pm.

So be sure to catch Intelligence! Many thanks to Nuffnang and The Screening Room and RTL-CBS for an awesome night out!

"Maxilla" by Lianne Ong

Lianne Ong, the author, is a church friend of mine.

Ever since I knew her, she has been writing and I knew someday she would write a book and indeed she has....

And she has written a children's book with the lead character being her son, Reuben.

When they were in the U.S. , Reuben chanced upon a caterpillar and decided to bring it home to keep.

His mother, Lianne, has written the book to record the event.

In the book which I recommend for children and adults, there are a few themes being explored

1) For children to deal with the issue of disappointment and to let go.

2) For parents to journey along with their children and support them in their choices they made.

3) Respecting nature is important and we must teach children that.

4)The amazing transition of a caterpillar to a butterfly and their life cycle

Alright, would you like to win a butterfly kit from Oh Chin Huat Farm?
(Open to parents with children who are in preschool and lower primary school)
Closing Date: 24 February 2014, Monday, 0000hours

Step 3: Get your child to draw your best interpretation of a butterfly(be as creative as possible!) and email to: sayvalentine@gmail.com

The best interpretation will win the prize and the winner will be contacted end of February 2014.

So go on and get those little pair of hands moving...

Maxilla is now on sale at $10.60(with GST) at all MPH bookstores and Books Kinokuniya Singapore.

Review of ICE CUBE

On 23 January 2014, my friends and I were cordially invited to a food tasting session at  ICE CUBE which

is at  11 Kensington Park Road, Singapore 557263.

They have been in the Serangoon Garden neighbourhood for 8 years.

It was a lovely and cozy setting with comfortable seats and awesome music playing in the background. I like the fact that it was a family-friendly place catered to the needs of children (me being the early childhood educator was attracted naturally to the bright colours!)

My friends and I were bowled over by the warm and friendly service by the staff who attended to us.

Here are some of the dishes that I would recommend:

Mozzarella Cheese Stix
Aglio Olio Pasta
Waffle with ice-cream of your choice (24 flavours to choose from-you will be spoilt for choice!)

Portobello Mushroom Soup

Be sure to check out their website: http://www.icecubecafe.com/ to check out their delectable ice-cream cakes and more information on their other outlet at Bedok Library.

(I am gonna order my customised ice-cream birthday cake for next month!)

Ice Cube also has a facebook page Ice Cube Facebook whereby you can check out their weekly promotions. I happened to chanced upo 51% off for students on their waffles, that is definitely great news for students who are near Serangoon Gardens.

Delivery Man

On 3rd January 2014, I watched the movie, Delivery Man, at Cathay Handy Road.

The movie was about a man who learnt that he had 533 children because of his sperm donation years ago and he had a girlfriend who was coincidentally pregnant, so that makes him the father of 534 children.

Vince Vaugh plays the main lead and as always, he provides great comic relief. Overall, I felt the movie was an inspirational one.

It tells us that in life, we must pick ourselves up and focus on the goals that we have and sometimes, life experiences forces us to grow up and be a responsible adult.

I would recommend this movie for great comedy and a night out with friends after dinner.

I would rate it 3 out of 5 stars for a feel-good movie as it has an awesome happy ending. (be sure to catch it!)

Here's the trailer for a little teaser to a great and awesome movie:

DOMINO'S: NEW CHEESY CRUST PIZZA

Having born in the year of  the Rat, I absolutely adore my cheese!

Which is why when I got an invitation to Domino's Cheese Lover Party, I was simply over the moon over the cheese that I will be having.

Check out the delectable pizza art....it looks too delicious to be eaten.
The prawns made a perfect combination with the cheese. I had two humongous slices. *burp*
I loved the crazy chicken...that I requested for a second box. I suppose I need to exercise soon because I am having seconds of everything.

The must try has to be the bread crust...it is so chewy and soft like a pillow! I had a slice because I wanted to keep my stomach for the rest of the pizza flavours.

If you like your pizza thick, this is the must have. There are mushrooms in it which are one of my favourites.

If you are a meat lover, then this is the pizza for you....best eaten when served hot.

Domino's Pizza guarantee that all their pizzas are served fresh and hot and on time.

Do check out their current promotion. Hmm, it's a great idea to call for Domino's Pizza for my upcoming Christmas party.

Say Cheese!

Absolutely Nails and Feet Haven Reflexology

So it's nearing Christmas and what does one do when it's time for the season?

Check out the lights at Orchard Road...or you go for a pampering session by doing up your nails for
the festive season and not forgetting treating your feet to a relaxing reflexology session.

Both Absolutely Nails and Feet Haven Reflexology is located at 136 East Coast Road.

Let's check out Absolutely Nails first...I love the ambience and the music in the background literally made me drift off to dreamland as it was so soothing after a long day of work.

This is Jocelyn, the meticulous manicurist who has an awesome tattoo...She's very patient as she drew the nail art of snowflakes one by one...I loved being pampered.
While one worked on my fingernails, the other manicurist worked on my toenails. Pure Indulgence....almost equivalent to having an ice-cream but I would say the experience is even better.

Look at the finished product! I am overwhelmed with JOY...Thank you Absolutely Nails....I Absolutely loved the Nails!

I probably gotten used to being pampered that exactly two days later, I was back at 136 East Coast Road, this time for a session of foot reflexology.

Check out my toenails in my favourite colour- hot bright pink! Right...back to the reflexology session....

During the session, it was best to keep silent....but I could not help asking questions...like..."Where are you from?" and "How long have you been massaging?" However, the therapist remained professional and kept focused on his task-which was to knead and soothe my feet.

The reflexology session was therapeutic and the hour session seemed a little too short...because just as I was enjoying it, it had to end so soon.

After the session, you are given a cup of tea....and I have to say I love the tea set. It transports me back to ancient China. Overall, the foot reflexology session was a good way to end the week especially after a long tiring day at work.

By the way, Feet Haven just opened their second outlet at 4A Maju Ave (Above Cedele). Check them out if you are nearby.

California Fitness FIT Start Training Session

What comes to your mind when you think of Personal Training or having a personal trainer?

I, for one, think of a coach, who will be very harsh and hard on the person who he is coaching.

I imagine undergoing lots of pain and it is too torturous to think further....

I was so wrong. I went for a FIT Start Training Session on TRX with my trainer, Kurt.

California Fitness trainers will help you to achieve your goals in the fastest, safest way possible.
Firstly, they will take your height, weight and fat mass index from a machine and next, they will devise a balanced nutritional regimen up to a customized fitness training program to get you the results you want, whether it is to slim down, bulk up, de-stress or improve fitness levels.

I picked to undergo a session of TRX because simply it looked fun! TRX uses heavy-duty nylon webbings attached to wall brackets.

I had to use my own body weight to  do the various exercises and boy, was I so tired but with gentle encouragement from my trainer, I was able to maintain my balance and build up my core stability and flexibility.

If you are keen to attend or have a trial of the FIT Start program, simply check with the Personal Training reception at the nearest California Fitness gym.

Ronald McDonald's Big Red Shoes Bench

On 10 November 2013, I witnessed the flag-off of 150 volunteers at MacDonald's at J.E.M Mall as

they hit the streets from 1.30pm-5.30pm, to raise awareness for Ronald McDonald House Charities

(RMHC). RHMC is an independent charity that has been running a "home-away-from-home" facility

- Ronald McDonald House(RMH) at National University Hospital (NUH) for families with children

in intensive care since January this year.

Simultaneously, there was 350 other volunteers from other McDonald's outlets hitting the streets to

raise funds for Ronald McDonald House Charities(RMHC) by selling Ronald Smiles at $2 each.

Every year, McDonald's will have a McHappy Day and this year, they are inviting the public to help

raise funds for Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC).

The Ronald McDonald's Big Red Shoes Bench will be located at 4 different locations around the

island.

Dhoby Ghaut (NEL) MRT Station - 26 October- 1 November 2013
Harbourfront (NEL) MRT Station- 2 November-8 November 2013
Toa Payoh Bus Interchange          - 9 November-15 November 2013
Boon Lay Bus Interchange            -16 November-22 November 2013

If you have an Instagram account, do your part by submitting photos of yourself posing at the

bench and include the hashtag #mchappydaysg

For every photo, McDonald's will donate $1, capped at 5000 entries, to RHMC.

All proceeds from both McHappy Day fundraising activities will go to RHMC to support its

operations of RMH at NUH and McDonald's is looking to raise a total of $20,000.

Check out McDonald's Singapore for more information.
